About good area to move in or or around phoenix

Good area to move in or or around phoenix?
I'm being transferred for work to Phoenix. I know nothing about the area and have never been there. I'm looking to move to relatively safe area. I will be living on my own and plan on living in an apartment for a few years, if that matters. I also would like to be close to a university, as I'm planning on working on my master's. Any advice from residents is greatly apprecaited. Thank you.

Tempe/Gilbert/Glendale/Peoria

The main campus for ASU is located in Tempe. Near there I'd recommend Chandler. Then there's another campus for ASU located in Glendale near 43rd Avenue and Thunderbird. Any of those locations are safe. Just avoid Maryvale and south Phoenix and you'll be safe.

You could live in Tempe where ASU is located or Scottsdale directly north of there. It depends on your financial resources regarding where you live.

About we are thinking about moving to Phoenix, area in a nice neighborhood

We are thinking about moving to Phoenix, area in a nice neighborhood?
WE are thinking about moving to Phoenix area in a nice, safe neighborhood with good schools public schools if possible. Also, my husband, who would work in Phoenix, hates commutingng with a car but prefers public transportation. Is there such a place? Closest major intersection where the office is located is E Van Buren & N 44th St (153).

There is public transportation but depending on where he works in Phoenix will determine if there will be public transportation. I work in Phoenix but the closest busline to my office is a mile away. There are many nice little suburbs that have great public schools and most of the neighborhoods are safe, crime can happen anywhere, just be concious of certain areas. The south west section of Phoenix (the city proper) is not an area where I would want to raise my children, or central Phoenix, but the northern areas of the suburbs of Glendale and Peoria offer nice housing, good schools and shopping. Gilbert, Mesa and Tempe also offer nice areas, but keep in mind it is a much tougher commute to Phoenix from those areas. If you could give an address where your husband is going to work, it would be easier to give you specific information. Email me if you want and I will respond. As others have said, you don't want to live close to your husband's work area, it is not a good area of town to live, ok to work, but don't live there. The DC Ranch area is beautiful but is not good for Public Transportation. I really think that Tempe, Gilbert, Chandler areas are the best place for you to begin your home search, with Tempe being the closest to the area your husband will be working.

Oh man, he's gonna work on Van Buren? Hope he likes hookers and meth addicts. I can tell you right now not to live anywhere NEAR his place of employment if you're looking for a nice neighborhood. Personally, I think Phoenix is kind of a crumby place to live, but I've lived in a lot of places. Some people like it, especially those who've never been anywhere else or only been to a few places. Are you guys moving here strictly for work opportunities? If you have a lot of options, I'd seriously consider looking into the other places you could go to. Driving is horrible here. Litterally some of the dumbest drivers I've ever seen. Education for the whole state is one of the worst in the country, so you don't want to raise children in the public school system. But we did have the honor of having 2 active serial killers (3 actually, since the serial snipers were two individuals working together) a couple years back. Not to mention the others the news probably didn't find out about. As for good stuff, there's really not anything here that you can't find in any other big city for entertainment. If you like 120 degree heat in the summer (they usually have to close the airport for a couple days because the asphalt melts and the planes sink into the runways from the heat) it's perfect. But dry heat or not, you never get used to it. Only old, reptilian retirees enjoy the summers here (you can occassionally find a few basking on a flat rock out in Sun City). Anyway, good luck finding a safe neighborhood in this town, especially near your husbands place of employment. Yikes...
3 :
Two words, D.C. Ranch in Northeast Scottsdale. Unfortunately 44th and VanBuren is a bad part of town, unless you like hookers and druggies.
4 :
if u like to live in a drug/gang/hooker infested place then e van buren and n 44th is the perfect place for you.Do Not Go There! I would suggest Scottsdale or Tempe.

About what are some places that would accept 14 year olds to work in Arizona? (Phoenix area)

What are some places that would accept 14 year olds to work in Arizona? (Phoenix area)?
Yes, I already understand that most places require to be 15, so if that's what you're going to answer then just don't bother. I just need a summer job for 14 year olds! (I already do some babysitting...) and if you know any places that would accept that age, do you know how much they pay?

Hey, you can earn some extra cash with online surveys. I found a good site that is very legit and pays out at a minimum of 1$. Its not hard to make that and it has a lot of offers and stuff. The link is http://www.prizelive.com/r/dj1337. Just sign up, confirm email and then click offer list on the left side bar. If you need any other help just email me. Its not quite a lot but extra money is always nice. Good luck finding another job

You can work at those ages, but the jobs you can do are really limited. Employers usually would rather hire someone who is allowed to do more/work later, etc. Probably someone would choose to hire you because they know you and want to help you out. Do you know anyone who has their own business and might hire you? Otherwise think of fast food places.
2 :
Try being a caddie at a local golf club. Fast food... usually they want you to be 16. Stores, 18.
3 :
Well if you can work from 10:30 a.m. till 4 or 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, than hit up every sit down and eat restaurant for a hostess job, like Chili's or Bennigans. They like to pay as cheap as possible and you would make almost 6 dollars an hour just to seat people for 6 hours a day till the other high schoolers get out of school!!! Minimum Wage is what your going to make anyways, might as well take a easy job!! and I don't know about Arizona law but here in Texas you can work as long as its not past a certain time of night which is like 7 so you would be covered on that. Plus we had a homeschooler at my chili's but I do think he was 16 but its still worth a try!!!

A farm and only 4 hours a day thats the law

Wherever you're happy is the best place to work. That sounds trite, but actually, it is not. For example, QT Convenience stores is rated by several business magazines as one of the best companies to work for. But what if you cannot stand dealing with customers, your back kills you after standing on your feet all day, and you hate making change? Then your life will be miserable. On the other hand, I have worked at some real loser cab companies, companies where the owner was indicted (no lie!) and I had a ball because I love what I do. Phoenix Magazine is a great place to start finding interesting new companies to work for. Start thumbing through their pages, and see what happens.

GoDaddy....paid training, 100% employer paid medical and dental, 15 days paid vacation + 9 paid holidays and 2 paid personal days in your first year, oh and instead of cutting back on the holidays, they spent $4million on the christmas party.

Much of Phoenix has gone to the dogs. You'd better live in Scottsdale, and you'd better have more than $500/mo for rent.
2 :
No where safe- You need a realtor to help you locate something you can afford.
3 :
$500 a MONTH?? In the ghetto. I lived in a condo for $500/mo back in 2000 & it WAS the ghetto. I'd say $850 is low to reasonable.... We DO rent out our patio home for $850 in Scottsdale. So it is possible
